Shelley Jacks is a registered psychologist who has had many years’ experience working with clients struggling with trauma. Shelley has expertise in helping clients who have been victims of domestic violence and/or sexual abuse. She also works well with women who are experiencing depression and anxiety. Shelley has also worked in acute inpatient mental health setting and has experience in working with clients diagnosed with schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, personality disorders and eating disorders. In addition, she has also worked in the area of chronic illness and brain injury.
Shelley is non-judgmental and feels it is important to identify and utilise a client’s strengths to help them understand themselves better and enable them to move forward towards a happier future. Her warm engaging manner, strong skills in CBT and excellent application of motivational interviewing lead to positive outcomes for her clients.
Shelley is keen to assist those that wish to change their lives but are struggling to find motivation. Shelley feels that the role of the psychologist is to ‘walk alongside’ their clients and help them to find hope and purpose in their lives. She enjoys using humor and believes that laughter is a great medicine.
Shelley is experienced in providing treatment using; CBT, behaviour modification, brief solution focused therapy and psychotherapy.
